Simon bar Kochba was the Jewish leader of what is known as the Bar Kokhba revolt against the Roman Empire in 132 AD. He established an independent Jewish state which he ruled for three years.
The Bar Kochba revolt, which erupted as a result of religious and political tensions, was the third major rebellion by the Jews of Judea Province against the Roman Empire and the last of the Jewish–Roman wars.
